Bed Bug Study Suggests My Wife Should Stop Shaving Her Legs

Filed under: pest control - pest types — admin @ 8:03 am on the January 3, 2012

A new study on the common bed bug has made an amazing discovery. Bed bugs do not like hairy legs or skin. The University of Sheffield did research on these bugs and discovered that the hair prevents them from biting someone. These bed bugs as well as some others tend to go for areas with less hair to attack. Therefore, if we just stop shaving and let our hair grow maybe we can tolerate these bugs until we find a pest control service to take care of them for us.

In this study in the UK, some people volunteered to have one of their arms shaved while the other one was left unshaven. Both of their arms were then attacked by bed bugs. This experiment proved that the hair stopped the bugs from biting the protected arm. The hair protects the arm by slowing the bugs down and giving you a chance to be aware of the bugs before they bite. People with hair can feel these bugs as they crawl on their skin.

If you have a bed bug problem and do not want to stop shaving, you will need to find some way to eliminate them from your home. A removal treatment may be necessary before the bed bug takes over your home. Bugs can multiply quickly in your home especially if you do not have a good pest control service. A pest control company will know the proper kind of removal treatment to use for the bugs.
