The Mole (Talpa Europaea)
 
Identification
This pest is around 5-8 inches long they have short fur and the
colour is normaly grey to silvery grey, you cant see its ears as
there are hidden withing its fur
Were There Found
Very common in the UK
Habitat
Adult moles are very solitary they live most of there liver
underground but now and again they will come up
Behaviour
Moles are active day/night they seem to work four hours on and
four of they make a new mole hill every few hours
Breeding
A moles breeding starts from february to match with just one
litter of 5 young. the young leave the nest after just 5 weeks
Food
Beetles, ants earthworms and any other insect that lives in
soi.
Control
Trapping - 99.9% of the time we always trap our mole we
catch
were possable we use Aluminum phosphide to control this pest
Aluminum
phosphide is a Schedule 1 poison and operators must be trained and
certificated
to be able
to purchase and use it for the control of moles and the
manufacturer's
recommended
guidelines must be followed.
"Although one mole has been
caught, customers need to be aware that once a
run
is vacated by a mole, another
mole can move into that set of
tunnels.
(these runs will
offer a ready supply of food).
Re infestation therefore can, and
frequently does occur no matter
which treatment method is
used!!!
